Glossary of terms
Study Area – This is the area comprising Kings Heath, Rye Hill, Lodge Farm and Dallington Grange.
Local Plan – This document sets out the Council’s objective for development in the Northampton area, stipulating areas where development could take place. Sites described as allocated (like Dallington Grange) have been identified by the Local Authority for development. The current Local Plan which allocates Dallington Grange for development was adopted in 1997.
Planning Brief – This document is set by the Local Authority and identifies targets and parameters to which developers are expected to respond.
Wider Regeneration Framework – A document which has been prepared by the developers, which collates feedback from the community on the wider North West Northampton area, and makes recommendations for improvements to that wider area as a result of the feedback. This document will then be taken forward by WNDC.
Government Office for East Midlands (GOEM) - The Government Office for the East Midlands carries out a wide variety of town and country planning work on behalf of the Secretary of State for the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG). National and regional policy is applied in the local context and fed back to the DCLG.
Milton Keynes and South Midlands Sub-Regional Strategy - The purpose of the document is to provide a clear, agreed, sub-regional strategy for the period 2001-2021, and a long-term spatial vision for the sub-region towards the year 2031, as part of the Government's Sustainable Communities Plan. It also provides guidance for delivery bodies on the scale, location and timing of the development and the associated transport, employment and social infrastructure needed to achieve the vision of sustainable communities.
